Default Cobb-Plano now rebuilding Subaru transmissions

Due in part to the high demand of transmission repairs, Cobb Tuning - Plano is now rebuilding Subaru transmissions. Our first rebuild is a Wrx that lost second gear while being shipped from Hawaii, someone decided to take a spirited run without the owners consent...

****it I was so close to being the first.......

I have read a lot of things on NASIOC of people talking about how Calvin rebuilt their trans and that he did a fantastic job. I guess this was while he was at the dealer?

Calvin has been rebuilding Subaru transmissions for years. He figured out how to enable DCCD on "Fat Albert" before it was available to the US market and rebuilt ESX's transmission for their drag car.

Going back together with Joshua's 5 speed

Nice shot Neil! Actually they are the RST-1141R Type STi Gear Set for 5MT
    http://www.rallispec.com/prod_trans.htm

Or you can just say JDM sti 5 speed set but I have been told they are same as RA gears but longer ratio. Also like to see the side by set pics of the gears to compare stock vs the JDM ver6 set I bought.

It looks like I will be able to get that part I need. I talk to the guy monday and if not I will call Chris as he thinks get can get what I need if I have to buy one out right.

Thanks to all you guys for answering all my questions over and over again. As I would not have been able to get this done with out you all.

    Chris/Neil,

The vendor I got the gears from says I CAN reuse the old 3rd gear syncro with the updated hub, but since Calvin says it will not work then I want to go ahead and pay for a new one. I trust him.

So I will call you on Tuesday if you do not call me first and maybe you can get it from Austin or somewhere closer and just bill me the 30-40$ for it at the end.

    Thanks,
    Brandon

I will see you guys Saturday, I was a little short on trans mission fluid. I am right at the low marker. Checked the transmission several times maybe the jug was just a little under full? I called Chris about it. Thanks again!

Question for Chris or Calvin, what is the chance you have some bad 5th gear sets laying around?

What I would like to do is check some different gears and see if I can make a taller 5th for my 98 LGT 5MT. I am running ~3500RPM @ 80MPH, likely due to the shorter FD ratio. I was just looking to see if other gears could work in my trans. I already know a similar year Outback won't work, it changes the ratio, but the wrong way.

Then again, maybe you already know a way for me to make the change??
